Workshop on Carl Popper’s Philosophy of Science (in Farsi)

In this workshop, we shall briefly review the origin of philosophy of science
in the beginning of the 20th century. We then move to Popper’s early
understanding of science and his differences with Logical Positivism of Vienna
Circle. We then address some main issues in Popper’s philosophy such as
Problem of Induction, Problem of Demarcation between Science and Metaphysics,
Falsificationism, Methodology of Science, Scientific Realism and the aim of
Science and Verisimilitude. Hopefully, we shall also focus on some of the ideas’
of Popper’s critics. (The Workshop is in Farsi).
Fifth Gathering Event, February 05, 2005.

Welcoming remarks conducted by Mr. Nouraeyan to the gathering of 32 relatives
and close friends of Nasrin Family.
Mrs. Farshideh Naasrin read the biography of Mohamad Reza Nasrin and a memoriam
poet about him.
Mr. Nasrins elder son, Mehdi Nasrin, read a short story in Farsi that was
written by him
and is published in Iran (The assassination of a not so famous Sheikh).
After dinner, Mr. Monjazeb, Mrs. Farshideh And Mrs. Mashayekh read some poems
from Hafez.
Foundation website was introduced and the guests were informed of the philosophy
workshop arranged by Mehdi Nassrin.
Nasrin foundation is planning to arrange some prophetic workshop in philosophy,
cinema, architecture and arts.

fourth Meeting,
September 12, 2004

2:30 pm – 5:30 pm
* The reception, and a light refreshment was followed by an interview with the
board of Directors conducted by Mr. Fallahi,. The interviewed was aired on
Namashoom (The Iranian Radio Station based in Ottawa).
* The program started at 3.00. Mrs. Farshideh Nasrin presented the program as
the master of Ceremony.
* The program started by welcoming the crowd and providing the report regarding
the last gathering of Nasrin Foundation. This report was previously published in
“Bon” newsletter (the journal of Anjomaneh Senfi-Mohandesan- e -Memar va
shahrsaz in Tehran).
* A short movie about Isfahan (Ali Ghapoo) in English was shown.
* Dr. Jafar Nejad from Tehran University performed a beautiful piece of
traditional Persian music with tar, accompanied by Mr. Ebrahimpoor’s soothing
voice.
* The Second part started with the presentation of the prizes. The prizes were
given to 3 articles submitted by Mr. Mohtasham Tatai, Mr.Behnam Shadravan &
Mr. Farhad. These recipients then talked briefly about their articles as
follows:
1. Mr. Mhtasham: An article in English with the following title:
· Culture, Ethnicity, and Social Inequality in Post Modern Era by Mohtasham
Tatai
2. Mr. Farhad: An Article in English with the following title:
· Our American ways reflected in my mirror
3. Mr. Shadravan: An article in Persian with the following title:
· The sky of hoppness
* After the prize ceremony, poems were read by Mrs. Farshideh Nasrin and Mr.
Monjazab.
* At 5 the gathering was successfully concluded and the board of directors
thanked the attendees
On Sunday May 2,2004, the Nasrin Foundation has organized a special event on Arg-A-Bam
in English.
Dr. Giti Etemad, an engineer architect from Iran who is studying the different
aspects of the restoration of Arg-a-bam will provided a short report on the
recent Bam earthquake and its consequences both from the social aspect and the
historical point of view.
We had about 60 guests, Iranian and Canadian, gathering in the City Hall, she
spoke about 30 minutes and then she presented a film from Bam after earthquake.
Then the audiences asked their questions about the happening and the way of
restoring the Arg and also the method to prevent the destruction in the future.
We had a 30 minutes break, a light refreshment was served.
In the second part a story telling (Naghali) was presented by Mrs. F. Nasrin, it
was quite interesting and welcomed by the audiences specially the people who
remembered that famous story.
At the end the foundation announced 2 prize for the best articles ( see the
award ducouments) that offerd to the foundation from Mrs. and Mr. Farhad Behin
from USA. And also Mrs. Mashayekh behalf of foundation thanked all attendants
and a special thank to Dr. Giti Etemad, Mr. Mohtasham Tatai, Miss Helia Hazaei,a
and Miss Sara Nouraeyan.
At 4 Pm. the meeting was finished successfully.
Nasrin Foundation
Minutes of the second meeting, February 13, 2004

Time: 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm
Location: Safrron Restaurant
Present:
About 30 people including family members and close friends.
Mrs. Mashayekh, Mrs.f. Nasrin, Mr Abdol Nouraeyan, and Mr. Mehdi Nasrin
discussed Nasrin foundation’s objectives, organization, activities and so on.
Following conclusions were achieved through a discussion with all guests:
- Register Nasrin Foundation officially
- Arrange cultural activities at least twice a year
- Offer two annual prizes to the students enrolled in Ottawa U, Carleton U
and Algonquin College.
- Offer scholarships to the student s enrolled in the above universities
- Develop a strong link with the Iranian universities
Mr. Abdol Nouraeyan and Mr. Mehdi Nasrin and Nasrin Foundation offered some
Technical books to the library of Sharif University ( Mehdi Nasrin will provide
the list of the books)
Then the dinner was served.
During the second part of the gathering, guests read poems selected from Iranian
poets such as Hafez, Shamloo, Feraydoon Moshiri, Sohrab Sepehri and one poem
from Turkish Poet was also read by Siavash.
We would like to thank, Maryam Sheida far and Fatie Hashemloo again for their
special support.
The foundation offers two awards for articles regarding art, architecture and
science in 2004. A jury will review all submittals and select the finalists.
The best articles will also be presented at the next event and the foundation’s
web site. The foundation plans to also publish the fist top ten articles.
Deadline for submission: July 01, 2004
All submissions must follow the specified format and guidelines as appeared on
the web site.
The award:
Presented on August 01,2004 to the winners
Winner: $300.00
Runner up: $300.00
The foundation will have two gatherings, these gathering will be held in Ottawa
for 2004. Winners will be invited to present their article in the next event.
February 2002 Poetry night with about 60 audiences in City hall, introducing Nasrin Foundation .

Ebrahimpoor, Mr. Mehdi Nasrin and Mr. Mohsen Nasrin.
It started at 4 Pm.
Mr. Nouraeyan introduced Nasrin Foundation to the audiences
Mrs. farshideh Nasrin talked about Mohamad Reza Nasrin and read one of his poem
(I would ask her to send you the poem)
Two articles were presented, by Mehdi and Siavash ,about art (I would ask them
to inform the articles names)
A very hot and interesting discussion about the articles by audiences.
A break ( Half an hour) light refreshment were served.
In the second part all audiences read different poems of different poets such as
,Hafez, Khayam, Feraydoon eh Moshiry, Shamloo, Sohrab eh Sepehri and Frough eh
Farokhzad.
Mohsen annoced the Bytown Cinema program.
The meeting was successfully finished at 8:00PM but the audiences did not want
to go home !!!
We appreciate all friends who kindly helped us in organizing this event
specially Mrs. Maryam Sheida Far and Mrs. Fatie Hashemloo.

Members of the CIAS/CEAI, architects
- both academics and practitioners, artists, or other interested individuals,
are invited to submit articles for publications. Topics of articles may deal
with the all aspects of art and architecture, and may provide new perspective
and insights into these fields.
